Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document client business requirements; translate them into functional specifications and technical designs.
- Architect Odoo solutions: design system architecture, module interactions, data models, workflows, integration points, and deployment environment so as to meet business needs while maintaining quality, performance, and scalability.
- Customize and develop Odoo modules (using Odoo Studio and native Odoo framework) based on client requirements.
- Lead functional design sessions: define business processes, map them to Odoo modules; propose enhancements or customizations when necessary.
- Integrate Odoo with third-party systems (e.g. analytics platforms, payment gateways, shipping, inventory, e-commerce), using APIs or other suitable methods.
- Oversee data migration: validate and design data models, plan and execute migrations from legacy systems.
- Provide ongoing functional consulting to clients: training, documentation (specifications, user manuals), workshops.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve functional and technical issues in implementations.
- Ensure quality: review code/configuration, perform design reviews, ensure best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, QA, operations, project managers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in project planning: estimate effort, define milestones, assess risk, propose alternatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Odoo Functional Consultant, with strong hands-on exposure to configuring/customizing modules (including Odoo Studio) and deploying Odoo in real business settings. (3+ years preferred)
- Solid technical skills: good understanding of Python, XML, JavaScript; experience with PostgreSQL; familiarity with Linux or related deployment environments.
- Strong design & architectural skills: ability to build modular, maintainable solutions; understanding of system integration, data flows, and ERP best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: capable of engaging with clients, eliciting requirements, explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Odoo certification(s).
- Prior experience in other ERP systems or in comparable end-to-end system implementations.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall).
- Exposure to cloud deployment, DevOps practices, performance optimization.
- Experience in industries relevant to Something Somewhere’s client base (if applicable).
